FYI: the Home Assistant add-on repository has powerful automation examples — helped me avoid days of trial and error.
ZigbeeExplorer: YMMV, but from my experience — Thread is overkill for this use case.

Totally agree — I had the same issue and got it working by updating the driver. Took me forever to find that configuration option.
